Our Teeny Tiny Bathroom Reveal

Our Teeny Tiny Bathroom Reveal
Bathroom renovation before & after

When we first purchased our home back in June, I knew instantly that the first thing we’d need to tackle was the bathroom. While it was semi-recently redone, the actual craftmanship (and tile selection) left little to be desired. The uneven grout lines, a too-small vanity, odd electrical placement, and “ornate” tub bothered me to no end…

Luckily for us, a very quick closing, and legal requirements to give our condo’s landlord at least 60 days notice that we’d be moving, left us with a solid 5 weeks to do the work prior to moving in. You may remember our bathroom design plans from back in August (here), and I’m so thrilled to finally share the photos. Shot by Snapful Photography, I couldn’t be more pleased with the results.

We ripped out the horrible brown tile and replaced it with the most stunning marble flooring from Stone Impressions. We opted for the chapman pattern, in shade (here) and truly couldn’t be more thrilled with the results. They have a slightly modern vibe, but done in a very traditional way, which is in keeping with our old Victorian home. We then clad the walls using their carrera marble field tile and I literally have to stop myself from petting the walls on a daily basis. The marble is next-level stunning – almost transluscent with the most beautiful veining – and I’m so glad we opted to upgrade from our original subway tile plan.

While I would have preferred the look of a pedestal sink, with just two tiny (and I mean tiny) closets in our entire home, we needed to capitalize on storage as much as physically possible. We opted for this vanity from Wayfair, in charcoal grey, and the drawers have been such a godsend. The fact that we each have our own, so that I can keep mine meticulously organized (#typeAtothemax), has been a wonderful bonus. We then grabbed the biggest recessed medicine cabinet we could find, and added two built-in shower niches for added storage.

Much like the tile we selected, we picked a Brizo faucet and shower kit that felt timeless, in keeping with our home, yet unfussy. The rain shower head has been a godsend, by the way, and I don’t think I could ever go back to a standard head again. We’ve been spoiled.

And, aside from our tiles, which I could literally go on about at length, my favourite changes were the expansion of our window (let in the light!) and our new (old) clawfoot tub from 1915. We picked it up for a steal on Craigslist, refinished the exterior ourselves in our yard, and had the interior professionally reglazed (which was a lot simpler than I thought). It’s actually quite a bit larger than the mini tub that was originally in place, yet feels light and airy and instantly made our miniature sized bathroom feel that much larger.

All in all, we are so pleased. It feels so very us in the best of ways. For more, head on over to Style Me Pretty Living, where we’re sharing the full gallery of photos.
