Ett Hem’s story may have only begun four years ago, but Ilse has embodied its personality in both its eclectic details and the fluid, informal way its spaces function.

The interiors of luxury 12-room hotel Ett Hem are more than beautiful spaces; they are the key to what this hotel offers, and what makes it different. The impressively proportioned red brick house, tucked away in a quiet leafy street in Stockholm, was originally a private residence, built in 1910.

Owner Jeanette Mix and interior designer Ilse Crawford worked with great sensitivity and care to preserve its personal quality and place it at the heart of the hotel. Original features such as wooden paneling and decorative ceilings blend with mid-century and contemporary furniture, including some of Studio Ilse’s designs.

Ett Hem’s story may have only begun four years ago, but Ilse has embodied its personality in both its eclectic details and the fluid, informal way its spaces function. A naturally convivial atmosphere ensues, dissolving boundaries between staff and fellow guests, who tend to feel that they are staying with friends rather than at a hotel. True to its Swedish culture, the hotel responds to the seasons, filling with light and freshness in the summer, offering roaring fireplaces, sheepskins, and long baths in the colder months. The feeling of a warm welcome spreads throughout an entire stay and luxury deepens into a sense of home.
